Facilities
The oldest part of the school dates back to 1893 and the first pupils were educated here in 1894. Since then, the school house has been refurbished and now houses our music and drama room and a modern Food Technology Room. The old school bell is still rung every afternoon at the end of lessons.
Grounds
The school is set in spacious attractive grounds, including a large playing field and a playground with distinct areas for both ‘active’ and ‘quiet’ play. An ‘Outdoor Classroom’ provides an additional seating space for children at play times.
Reception class also have a separate play area which includes climbing apparatus and areas of grass and tarmac.
In the middle of the school is a beautifully developed courtyard with some quiet games for playtime and seating.
The school uses the grounds as a learning environment; children explore wildlife, engage in eco-projects and grow plants. The rich environment is used to enhance and stimulate their natural scientific enquiry and curiosity.
There is also a modern and popular wooden adventure play area adjacent to the playground.
The classrooms are of a good size and equipped to provide a varied and exciting curriculum. They are all equipped with interactive whiteboards and visualisers to enhance the learning experience of the children.
Hall
We have one good-sized hall which provides space for indoor PE, drama productions, dance activities and assemblies. At lunchtime, tables and chairs are put out and the hall is used for packed lunches.
Library
We are fortunate to have a separate room for a library. This has recently been completely refurbished and re-stocked. The library includes new books, attractive shelving, comfortable seating and computers for independent research. We have also installed an electronic borrowing system which enables pupils to scan their own books when they borrow or return them.
In addition, each classroom has a stock of fiction and non-fiction books to enhance learning.
ICT Provision
The school benefits from two laptop trolleys holding a total of 32 laptops and there are some more smaller ‘notebooks’ connected by a very good wireless network to our main server and to the internet. This enables ICT to be an integral part of learning in the classroom.
We have a modern, recently installed Cookery Room that is used by groups of pupils for food technology and Friends for events such as Hot Dog Days.
Music and Drama Room
Our music room is equipped with an excellent range of instruments and the school is supported in their use by a number of dedicated peripatetic teachers from Aylesbury Music Centre.
Additionally Resourced Provision for Hearing Impaired (HID)
HID has two rooms dedicated to the provision of support for our deaf children and regular use of an additional room for small group work.
